Put Tendr to work
Everything you need to install the assistant, connect it to your account and get the most out of it. Five minutes if you already run WooCommerce.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.2 or later and WooCommerce 8 or later (compatible with block-based checkout and HPOS).
- PHP 7.4 or later with the
sodiumextension (enabled on almost every host). - Your store must be able to connect to the internet over HTTPS (to talk to the Tendr API).
Install and connect
- Create your account in the dashboard. It’s free and your licence appears instantly.
- Download the plugin from the dashboard (Installation & licences) and upload it in WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Activate it.
- Click “Connect to Tendr” in WooCommerce → Tendr. You’ll be taken to your dashboard to choose the licence, then back to WordPress with everything switched on.
- Wait a couple of minutes while it reads your catalogue. You can watch the progress in Knowledge.
- Customise and test: name, tone, rules and colours in Assistant; then try it on your real catalogue in Test the chat.
TNDR-FREE-…) from the dashboard and paste it in WooCommerce → Tendr → Would you rather paste your license key?How it sells
The assistant searches your catalogue, shows products with photos (a featured card, a carousel, a comparison or a list, depending on the conversation) and explains why each one fits. When it mentions a product in its reply, hovering over the name shows a card with photo, price and link.
Once the customer decides, it adds the item using WooCommerce’s real cart. On the Shop plan, it also collects the shipping details inside the chat and takes the customer to your checkout page with everything filled in: all they have to do is choose how to pay. Tendr never sees or stores card data: payment happens on your checkout, with your usual gateways.
What it never does
- It doesn’t make up prices, stock, delivery times or conditions: it reads them from your store and your policies. If something isn’t written down, it says so.
- Shipping costs come from your WooCommerce shipping zones, so they match what will be charged at checkout. If the order is below the free-shipping threshold, it says how much is left to reach it.
- It doesn’t apply discounts that don’t exist, doesn’t stray from your store’s topics and doesn’t accept instructions to change its behaviour.
Your own rules
In Assistant → Rules you can add instructions it will always follow, for example: “if someone asks about coffee for babies, only recommend decaf”. The free plan includes 3 active rules and Shop up to 50.
AI engine
AI is included in every plan: no accounts to create, no keys to paste. If you’d rather use your own DeepSeek or OpenAI account, paste your key in Assistant → AI engine. It’s stored encrypted on our servers and never reaches your customers’ browsers.
Measuring sales
When a customer who has chatted with the assistant completes an order, the plugin attributes it to that conversation. In Overview you’ll see conversations, products shown, add-to-carts, orders and attributed revenue, and in Conversations every full chat with what happened. Tests from the dashboard don’t count.
Licences and stores
- Each licence covers a number of live stores (1 on Counter and Shop, 25 on Chain).
- Test stores don’t use up a slot:
staging.,dev.,test.,.test,.local,localhostdomains and IP addresses. - To move a licence to another domain, disconnect the old store in Installation & licences and connect the new one. If you connect a store and the licence has no slots left, the dashboard offers to move it.
- If a paid licence expires, the assistant keeps working with the free features. You lose neither settings nor history.
- The plugin keeps the signed licence for 7 days: if our server ever failed to respond, your store would carry on as normal.
Troubleshooting
The chat doesn’t appear on my store
Check in WooCommerce → Tendr that it says “Your assistant is active” and that “Show the chat” is ticked. If you use a caching plugin, clear the cache. The chat isn’t shown to administrators inside the WordPress dashboard.
The dashboard says “Waiting for your store…” and doesn’t move
Make sure you clicked “Connect to Tendr” in WordPress while logged in to the dashboard in the same browser. If your server blocks outgoing connections, ask your host to allow HTTPS to tendr-api.marcgrabel.cc.
It says it doesn’t know products I do have
The free plan indexes up to 150 products. If you have fewer, click “Sync the catalog again” in the plugin; price and stock changes are sent automatically whenever you save a product.
“This licence is already active on 1 of 1 sites”
Disconnect the previous store in Installation & licences in your dashboard, or connect using the “Connect to Tendr” button: the dashboard will offer to move it.
I’ve changed domain
Reconnect from WooCommerce → Tendr. If it’s the same account, the assistant’s settings are restored automatically.
Your customers’ privacy
The chat identifies each visitor with a random code stored in their browser, never with their email or name. The shipping details a customer types into the chat go straight into your store’s cart; Tendr doesn’t keep them. More details in the privacy policy.
Uninstalling
Deactivate and delete the plugin in WordPress: the licence slot is freed and local settings are deleted. To also delete the indexed catalogue and conversations, disconnect the store or delete your account from the dashboard.
